Our Beliefs
-
We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible, all-sufficient, and authoritative Word of God.
(Ps 119:89,105,130; Is 40:8; Lk 24:44-45; Col 3:16; 2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Pet 1:21).
-
We believe that there is one God, who eternally exists in three persons: The Father, The Son
and The Holy Spirit. We believe that these three, having the same nature, attributes, and
perfections, are worthy of all worship, confidence, and obedience.
(Deut 6:4; Matt 28:19-20; Mk 12:29; Jn 1:1-4, 5:26; Acts1:7; 2 Cor 13:14; Col 1:15; 1 Tim 1:17; Heb 1:1-3).
-
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ; in His Virgin Birth; in His sinless humanity; in His
miracles; in His perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people through the shedding of His blood and
death on the cross; in His bodily resurrection; in His ascension into Heaven where He sits at the
right hand of the Father; and in His personal return in power and glory.
(Matt 1:18-25; Lk 1:35, 4:41; Jn 1:1-4,14,29, 8:58, 10:30; Acts 1:9-11; Rom 1:3-4, 5:8; Phil 2:5-11; Col 1:15-17;
Heb 1:1- 3,8).
-
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity, equal with God the Father
and God the Son. We believe in the promise of the Holy Spirit, who was sent at Pentecost to
unify all believers into one body, the Church, whose indwelling is the source and power of all
acceptable worship and service. We believe the Holy Spirit seals, empowers, guides, teaches,
sanctifies, and helps the believer; He is our abiding Comforter and Helper, and is ever-present
to testify of Christ.
(Gen 1:2; Ps 51:11; Matt 3:16, 4:1; Jn 7:38-39; 14:16-17; 15:26; 16:13-14; Acts 1:8; Rom 8:9-11; Gal 4:6; Eph 1:13-14; Phil 3:3).
-
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that through Adam’s sin
all of mankind has fallen and inherited a nature of sin. Thus, man in his natural state is lost,
alienated from God, and incapable of attaining salvation by any personal effort or merit.
(Gen 1:26, 2:7; Rom 3:10-12,20,23, 5:12-19; Eph 2:1-3, 4:18-19).
-
We believe that salvation is a free gift of God offered to all humanity by grace, entirely apart
from man’s works, and that it is possessed through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This
faith is expressed in works pleasing to God. We believe that all true believers, having been
justified, shall be kept saved forever.
(Matt 1:21; Jn 1:12, 3:16, 14:6; Rom 3:28, 5:8, 8:31-39; 1 Cor 12:13; Gal 2:20, 3:13,26-27; Eph 2:8-9; 1 Tim 2:5-6).
-
We believe in the Church which is the body of Christ, of which Christ is the Head. We believe
that the Church is the bride of Christ, and that we are a spiritual family united by the Holy Spirit.
As we are members of one another, we believe that we are responsible in good conscience to
keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, loving one another with a pure heart. We
believe that it is the church’s responsibility and mission to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to
all peoples and nations, and to be willing instruments of God in the advancement of His
Kingdom.
(Matt 16:15-19, 18:15-20, 28:19-20; Acts 1:8, 2:41-42,44-47, 6:3-6, 13:1-3, 14:23,27, 20:28; Rom 12:1; 1 Cor 3:16, 5:4-5, 7:17, 9:13-14, 12:1-31; Eph 1:22-23, 2:19-22; Col 1:18; 1 Pet 2:5,9, 5:1-4).
-
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Head over all the church, commanded His
people to hold to the practice of water baptism and the regular taking of Communion, and that
these ordinances are to be observed by the Church today. We do not believe that either of
these practices is essential for salvation, but that they serve as a demonstration of our living
faith in Him.
(Matt 26:26-30, 28:19-20; Mk 14:22-26; Lk 22:17-20; Acts 2:41-42,16:30-33; Rom 6:3-5; 1 Cor 10:16,21, 11:23-29; Col 2:12).
-
We believe in the physical resurrection of both the saved and the lost: those who are saved
unto the resurrection of life, and those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
(Matt
25:31-46; Rom 8:23; 1 Cor 4:5, 15:12-58; 2 Cor 5:10; Phil 3:20; Col 3:4; 1 Thess 4:14-17; Heb 9:27-28; 2 Peter 3:7; Rev 20:1-22:19).
-
We believe that marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment
for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to
provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship,
the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation
of the human race.
(Gen 1:26-28, 2:15-25, 3:16-21; Ex 20:12; Lev 20:13; Ps 128:1-6; Prov 1:8, 6:20, 12:4, 18:22, 31:10-31; Mal 2:14-16; Matt 5:31-32, 19:3-9; Mk 10:6-12; Rom 1:18-33; 1 Cor 7:1-16; Eph 5:21-33; Col 3:18-19; Titus 2:4-5; Heb 13:4; 1 Pet 3:1-7).
